It didn't exist in January. Now it's inside live investigations in three countries.

Azonic was founded this year by Caden Scott and Thomas Holdom in Auckland. It just raised NZ$1 million pre-seed, led by Blackbird, with Antler and Crimson Education’s Jamie Beaton.

The problem

Online crime runs across dozens of platforms and countries at once. The reports, case files and intelligence all sit in separate systems that do not talk to each other.

The product

Azonic pulls it all into one platform, then runs a virtual analyst on top. It chases the obvious leads and drafts the material needed to push a case forward. The human analyst picks up an investigation that is already most of the way built.

The traction

Investigators in New Zealand, Australia and the United States are already using it.

The advisors

  • Michael Hurley, former CIA and Palantir
  • Brad Brekke, founding director of the FBI’s Office of the Private Sector

My read

Government software is won on trust and access, not features, and a company this young does not normally get either. Azonic has serious names in its corner, months after it was founded.
